Volunteers Day of Het Groninger Landschap 2017 - in Dollard, Reidehoeve.

Once in summer time it happens that our great provincial NGO (actually a foundation, but very much people-based) - Het Groninger Landschap - organises a volunteer day. With diversity of activities and talks and much more. This time I made myself a very strange / unusual choice: that I join the group that will be painting at the dike. Really quick, two hours max... Well, that's us - painting at the dike.

Great Egret - oil painting in the visitors center.

And the visitor's center from inside.

Wilma, one of the volunteers responsible this time for us who will be painting at the dike - explains really very basics. That you mostly do landscape paintings in the horizontal mode, that you have to keep in mind basic rules of primary colour mixing etc.

One of the Barn Swallows has to listen to the group, waiting with the mouth full - to be able to fly into the nest with the always hungry nestlings.

Primary colours go mixed... Instruction chart.

Meanwhile Jan Jaap and some other volunteers join the excursion to the WWII bunkers, remaining here almost at the border with Germany as the memory of the WWII.

That would be my quick acrylic painting  (first time in my life I was painting using acrylic).

This man on the left happens to be professional...

But the group is still mostly amateurs.

Yes, we get also curious visitors.

Making us shy...

Also for the first time...

And also as a hobby for years - great vision!

And back to the top photo - this quick painting (bottom-right) stays now in the living room and reminds me that I have to be painting more often.
